Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor since she was aged six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford which is an acting academy that offers part-time classes. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach and school productions by the time she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been selected for the roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. Emma received five awards to honor her role in the movie.
